Saxon Burial

Weavermanbaskets are very proud to be asked to make a willow base for the Saxon Family to be reburied on.The event was attended by the local M.P. Hidie Allen ,members of the parish council,and members of the public.It is thought to be a unique occasion in the U.K.The family,a middle aged man,around 40years old,a female about 35 and an infant of between 2 and 3. Malnourishment and disease were evident in both adults,probably the cause of their early demise.

Willow workshop

COFFIN WEAVING

A big well done to my latest students. A coffin for there son. The family wanted a DIY funeral for their loved baby, this included working on the willow casket. A BIG WELL DONE. to the family concerned.

Bias Plaited Basket

                   A Bias Plaited basket made with a material called Somband it is rolled up paper rather like the L.Loom chairs                  the thin rolls are then stuck together.I have added colour to some strips before  weaving .

A small log /kindling basket.

This log/kindling basket was made using buff and white willow,a double french rand was worked for the side,using 1 buff and 1 white rod together.The border is a 4 behind 2 rod border,and it has 2 twisted rope effect handles. Buy it now for £32.50. Compare the different weave patterns on the shopper and the log basket.

WHATS HAPPENED THIS WEEK AT THE STUDIO 4B

A ROUND SHOPPER,

This basket was made with buff and white willow,the siding has been worked using a french rand and alternate buff and white rods to create a block pattern. The border is a simple trac with a follow on 3 pair plait worked on the side for extra strength and to give a decorative finish. It has a large  rope effect handle with a herringbone finish.  You can buy it for £35.00
