Willow workshop

 HAPPY WEAVERS  After a hard days  weaving  all the learners completed a wonderful willow basket .

 You or your group could also have a very enjoyable day ,doing something that you maybe not have tried before.

Bias Plaited Basket

                   A Bias Plaited basket made with a material called Somband it is rolled up paper rather like the L.Loom chairs                  the thin rolls are then stuck together.I have added colour to some strips before  weaving .

Here we have two very nice lamp shades made with recycled packing tape and woven using the open hexagonal weave.They are for use with low energy light bulbs. This basket was made with buff and white willow,the siding has been worked using a french rand and alternate buff and white rods to create a block pattern. The border is a simple trac with a follow on 3 pair plait worked on the side for extra strength and to give a decorative finish. It has a large  rope effect handle with a herringbone finish.  You can buy it for £35.00

A Three Rod Wale

This is a three rod wale being worked on the side of a willow coffin ,its purpose is to add strength to the basket and also for decorative effect.It is worked in white willow, enjoy .
